I embrace mind, body, soul, spirit and science. I embrace and hold them all in cooperative tension with one another. One should not override the other.
I acknowledge that God is bigger than any theological box humankind is capable of constructing to contain Him. We do not own God.
God has many expressions. I do not claim to own or completely understand any of those expressions. My perception of God has been shaped by my Christian heritage. While I embrace my heritage, I do not demand that others deny their own heritage or perceptions of God.
I hold community as essential. Authentic relationships with intimacy are the building blocks of community.
I hold love as the greatest commandment. When in doubt, I default to love.
I acknowledge that the world is imperfect. While I grieve the expressions of that imperfection, I feel compelled to work in cooperation with others to help make the world a better place.
I embrace the Great Mystery of Life. There are many things that we simply do not understand.
I acknowledge that there are many questions that I cannot answer. I embrace the freedom and simplicity of saying, “I don’t know.”
